Get to know us
Welcome!
We’re Wei and Daniel Sigala. We met in architecture school in East Los Angeles College and started Further Out Group in 2018. Wei is a licensed architect; she designs and leads every client project. Daniel is co-founder; he works on layouts, 3D visualizations, and leads the design on our own rental properties.
Our travel feeds our design ideas, and we have a soft spot for small, compact homes, like clever layouts of Japanese houses. It’s why a garage conversion gets the same design attention here as a new build.
Where we find inspiration: traveling, books, photography, interior design.
Who We Are

Wei Sigala (Sofia)
I grew up in Honduras after my parents immigrated from China, and I moved to California after high school to study architecture. It didn’t come naturally at first. I hadn’t even considered it as a career until I tried a drafting class my first semester, and something clicked.
What did come naturally is business and numbers. I love spreadsheets, and I track everything from profits to expenses. That shows up in how I practice architecture: I design the space, and I also run the budget math and flag the expensive surprises early.
Daniel and I own rentals and Airbnbs ourselves. So if you’re building an ADU to help with the mortgage, I’ve run those numbers on my own properties, not just on paper.
Outside of work I write a travel blog, read on my Kindle, and make vision boards for whatever we’re dreaming up next.

I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and I’ve been all over LA: first driving around to find the best skate spots, then as a deputy inspector for my dad’s business. When Wei and I started Further Out Group, I put those miles to work, out in the field handing out business cards and talking to anyone who’d listen. Our first projects came from those conversations.
I’m passionate about good design, architecture, music, and photography. At Further Out Group I work on layouts and build our 3D visualizations, and I lead the design on our own projects and rentals, where we test ideas on ourselves before we bring them to clients.
Studying abroad in Asia in 2015 changed my life, so much that I’ve made it my mission to live in Tokyo someday. It’s part of why we love the clever layouts of Japanese houses. In my free time I travel, shoot street photography, go to concerts, and enjoy good whiskey.

What We Believe
Everyone deserves a beautiful home to live in, no matter the size. A 400 square foot garage conversion gets the same design attention as a new build, because your real life happens in it either way.
We started our business after buying, designing, and building our first triplex in 2018. That was also the beginning of our real estate investing journey. Since then, we’ve purchased 3 properties and do a mix of long-term rents, mid-term rentals, and Airbnb.
We document all of this on our blog, where you’ll find useful articles about ADUs, home remodels, hosting on Airbnb, real estate investing, and design.
