Cimarron Addition, Remodel & ADU

Location: Leimert Park / Hyde Park area.

Project Scope

• Complete small interior remodel of the existing house (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, dining, and living room area)
• Addition of two master bedrooms
• Garage conversion to ADU and addition to the ADU (2 bedrooms 1 bathroom)

Design Elements

We wanted to preserve the craftsman style of the house, so work on the front exterior of the house was minimal. We re-arranged the interior of the house for an open-concept layout and moved some bedrooms and bathrooms around to create two master bedrooms from the existing layout.

The majority of the work was in the back, including the addition of two bedrooms to the house and the garage conversion to an ADU and addition to it.

The ADU is 520 SF and we fit two bedrooms, one bathroom, with a large living room and dining room for entertainment, and a small kitchen towards the front of the house.

The existing garage structure had to be reinforced, but we were able to keep the setbacks and not lose any space.

The galley kitchen design is a great space saver and optimal use of space. And the size of the bedrooms was small but we prioritized larger living room areas – because that’s where families should hang out!
